Saskatchewan Trip - Part Two

Sunday was a busy day...so sorry in advance that this is a long post.

In the morning the whole family got together at the makeshift campground and spent a few hours visiting.  Grandma also came out to spend time with everyone.

Grandma and I.

There were family members everywhere you looked.

Family...

...family,

...and more family.

In the early afternoon the grandchildren and great-grandchildren went swimming.

Ronan was super brave and loved jumping off the diving board into the deep end.

Latham and Cousin Ericka showing their muscles.

Ole - what a character!

That evening was Grandma's birthday dinner at the Hendon Hall.  Finnian loves balloons, and merrily ripped down some of the decorations to carry around with him.

Some more extended family arrived from Saskatoon especially for the birthday dinner.

Grandma sat at the head table with her children.

After the dinner about a dozen of us took a trip out to the old farm.  The tenant was nice enough to let us poke around.

The main farmyard.

Auntie Delta kept the younger boys entertained catching frogs while the adults walked the property.

As you can see, they were quite successful catching the little guys.

There's an old abandoned house that sits behind the farmhouse.  My sister and I would go and peek in the windows when we were younger and visiting my grandparents.  Lara and I always wanted to go inside and have a look around, but it was boarded up - we would've been too scared anyways.  We learned from the new tenant that there was no longer a door on the old house and 4 or 5 of us decided to go in and have a peek around.

This is the old kitchen with a movable old-fashioned work station.  The white contraption in the left cupboard is an old metal flour dispenser.

I was always intrigued by the house as a child because I didn't understand why a house would be abandoned, and even the furniture left behind.

It's kinda spooky how the grove just engulfed the house.

Eerily beautiful!
