Baby Bean is here!

Around 5am on January 24th, I woke up from contraction pain. Truthfully, it had been a restless night since I had been up several times before then, but I didn't want to rush to the conclusion that I was in labor since we had had two false alarms the previous week.

Shortly before 6am I woke up Collin since the contractions had gotten stronger and closer together. I wasn't sure about exact timing since I was in too much pain to figure it out. We called our friend over to watch the boys, and at 6:30 am we headed to the hospital.

My advanced state of labor was evident to the check-in nurse, who decided I should skip the usual triage room check, and instead called to the nurses at the nursing station, "We got a live one here!"

Our little one was born aproximately 20 minutes after arriving at the hospital after only an hour and a half of labor!

Welcome Finnian Bruce McLoughlin!

One tired Mama!

He came out rather fast and was greyish purple at first. He definitely pinked up though!

Proud grandparents! Nana and Bubba (Holte) arrived shortly after the birth, and Papa (McLoughlin) was introduced to Finnian via Skype.

Finnian's got quite the round face and chubby cheeks. He has his own look - no resemblance (yet?) to Latham or Ronan.

Proud Daddy!

The boys came later in the morning to meet their new brother. The nurse that was in charge of cleaning Finnian up was really great - she let the boys "help" with his bath.

Daddy and his boys. How many more do we need for a hockey team?

Latham was sure interested in the baby, whom he calls "Baby Fin-a-fin".

Ronan was excited too, but was intially more excited that Finnian brought presents for him and Latham.

After my first two babies, I finally clued into the fact that my larger-than-average newborns don't fit into newborn clothing, so this time I packed a going home outfit that actually fit! On the other hand, the pants that I had packed for me to wear home definitely did not fit, and I was forced to wear the outfit that I had arrived in - my bath robe. In my defense, I read that I'd still look 5-6 months pregnant after the birth, so I packed maternity pants that I wore when I was 5-6 months along. Apparently, it doesn't work that way.

Now the fun begins raising three boys! Imagine the cost of groceries at our house in about ten years!
